High School



 
 High School students in 9th through 12th grades are split into two groups A & B . Each group meets once a month on a Monday.Classes meet from 6:30-8:30 in the evening in the Education Center.

Our High School Youth Ministry program is open to students in grades 9th -12th. The program is headed by Ashley Bourgeois who works with a dedicated group of parent and young adult ministers to provide a well rounded comprehensive program for our teens. If you would like to know more about how you can become involved in our program please contact Ashley at ashleybourgeois@eatel.net 
 Attendance/Absences

Attendance is strictly required and expected. Any student who misses too many classes will not receive credit for that year of high school religion.

When a student misses class, he/she is responsible for making up any missed work or test. Students must schedule make up test through the Director of Religious Ed.
 Retreats

Each student must attend a MANDATORY retreat during the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Grade years. Retreat days for are: 

9th Grade Retreat

Saturday, March 19, 2011  in Ed Center from 9:30a.m.-5:30 p.m. (Includes Mass) Parents are needed to help out. Call Mr. Shows at 673-8307.

10th Grade Retreat

Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Ed Center from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (Includes Mass) Parents needed to help out. Call Mr. Shows at 673-8307.

11th Confirmation Prep Kickoff Retreat 

Sunday, January 23, 2011(Includes Mass) Parents are needed to help out. Call Mr. Shows at 673-8307.
It will be the student's responsibility to make arrangements to make up missed retreats. 
 Service Hour Requirements

Students will be required to complete a minimum of fifteen hours of service, per year, in each grade level (9th, 10th & 11th) for a total of 45 hours or greater.

Service hours guidelines are provided below:

5 hours of service performed at St. John the Evangelist Church ie: babysitting during Mass, working at the fair, working at the Parish Picnic, helping with Elementary C.F., or in the C.F. Office, making food baskets at Christmas, etc.

5 hours of service performed in the civic community ie: working at the Fellowship Center, working with the handicapped, working with the elderly, volunteering help at a school, etc.

5 hours of service combined choice (church or civic community)

Information concerning service opportunities will be provided to the students on an on-going basis. Students are required to record their service hours on the Service Hours Form.
