First Communion and First Reconciliation
The Eucharist is the “source and summit of the Christian life” (CCC #1324).
At St. John, families attending PSR or Catholic school, or homeschooling, with children in 2nd grade or above, participate in the preparations for First Reconciliation and First Communion. These preparations involve both the parent and the child.
The sacrament of First Reconciliation is typically celebrated in November each year, while First Communion takes place during the first and second weekends of May.
A parent meeting will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Activity Center. A registration form will be emailed prior to the parent meeting.

Confirmation
Note regarding current plan for transitioning to 7th grade Confirmation:
Over the next several years, St. John’s parish will transition to 7th-grade Confirmation as directed by Bishop Duca.
This year (25-26), children in grades 10, 11, and 12 (if not confirmed) are invited to join the Confirmation prep process beginning in September and celebrate their Confirmation in April 2026. This will be a year-long preparation, including those who attend PSR, Catholic School, and homeschool.
Moving forward, the tentative plan is to prepare two grades per year until we are fully transitioned to 7th grade. This plan could be accelerated due to several factors. We will keep everyone informed of any changes.
